The Sachstruktur Briefing is a daily newsletter that brings you essential Swedish news, thoughtful explainers, and the cultural context you need to understand what is happening in Sweden – whether you live there or follow from abroad. Curated by the editorial team under Chefredaktör Florian Schmid, it arrives in your inbox every weekday, with special editions for breaking stories and major policy changes. Each edition is written, reviewed and fact-checked by our journalists before it reaches you.
What does the Sachstruktur Briefing contain?
Every briefing delivers a concise round-up of the most important stories from Swedish politics, economics, culture and society. Beyond the headlines, you will find explainers that unpack complex issues such as new legislation in the Riksdag, shifts in monetary policy, or the latest developments in the welfare system. We also include cultural context – background on what shapes Swedish public debate and daily life – so that readers outside Sweden can follow along without needing prior knowledge of the country.
How often is the newsletter sent?
The Sachstruktur Briefing is published every weekday, Monday to Friday, with a short lead article and a curated selection of links and analysis. In addition, we send special editions when a major story breaks or when we publish a deep-dive investigation. These occasional editions are clearly marked and never increase the frequency beyond what is useful for our readers.
Who curates the newsletter?
The briefing is curated by the full editorial team of Sachstruktur, overseen by Chefredaktör Florian Schmid. Our Politikredaktör Fabian Schuster selects the political content, Wirtschaftreporter Katharina Sommer contributes economic analysis, and Kultur- och samhällsredaktör Michael Engels provides cultural insight. Every edition is reviewed by Redaktionschef Franziska Jung before sending. You can meet the whole team on our team page.

What you can expect from us
We run no advertising inside the newsletter itself, but we do include occasional sponsored content and affiliate links. All such material is clearly labelled, and commercial relationships never determine editorial decisions. Our sponsorship and affiliate disclosure policy is available at advertising and affiliate disclosure. Every piece of journalism in the briefing is subject to the same editorial standards as the rest of the site: named writers, human editors, fact-checking, and a commitment to accuracy.
